Desert Scene:

We split the canvas into 3 parts, using each part as a stage. First we painting land and sky; Second adding clouds and some detail; Third a following step with palm trees, small grass stumps with their shadows. No doubt this could be taken to further steps maybe adding a camel, a bedouin, I dare say even a tourist!

A very typical scene from where we used to live.

I feel I've been too eager to start. I want to go back some 25, 30 years. Goodness really has that much time passed. I lived in Dhaharan, Saudi Arabia and it was there I had art classes.

Windmills:

This painting was the first after soooo many years. A wedding present for a dear friend who lives in that area. May 2009.

The funny thing was the actual giving. I hadn't finished it until the last minute therefore felt I had to give it to my friend at the actual wedding. As soon as I managed to build up enough courage I presented her with the gift and quietly said she could pop it in the car and open it in the comfort of her own home. Lo and behold she ripped the paper off and showed it to everyone. I had to tour the tables one in particular had various professional painters sitting at it. What an embarrassment!
